About the Trust
Ebor Academy Trust is a family of schools located across North and East Yorkshire, York and the Humber region. Our vision is to deliver high quality, rich and engaging education at the heart of our diverse communities. To do this, we are committed to building professional collaborations of best practice both across and beyond the Trust. Through this, we aim to enable all our learners to flourish, and to open doors for their best futures.
We genuinely seek to live our values of Excellence, Belonging, Opportunity and Respect, which underpin all we do.

About the role
‘Together we share and develop excellence through effort, aspiration and high expectations’

Braeburn Primary and Nursery Academy is a two form entry primary with big ambitions as we continue to share and develop excellence for our children and our staff team.
We welcomed our experienced Headteacher in summer 2019 and over the last 2 years we have overhauled our curriculum, leadership structure, provision, and learning environments.

We are part of the Ebor Academy Trust which is a family of 24 primary and secondary schools. As a staff colleague you will access CPD available locally as well as accessing leading support staff career pathways, apprenticeship and teaching and leadership programmes through our Trust networks.

Braeburn is all about the ‘Team’. The children work in ‘Teams’ not ‘Classes’ and we welcome applications to join our highly motivated and aspirational ‘Teaching Team’ Investing in our teaching team is incredibly important and we place great value on the relationship between the Teacher and the Teaching Assistants. Each setting across school benefits from a team of highly skilled Teaching Assistants that play an important part in school life.

Our opportunity

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our school to work within classes, initially working in KS1. Ideally you will have some experience in working with children within this age range. You will work alongside our class teachers and be part of our whole school team.

As our new Teaching Assistant, you will work both individually with our children as well as leading interventions in small groups. You will be supported to get to know our children’s needs quickly, and form a close and key partnership with Class Teachers. We encourage applications from candidates who have a passion for primary education and wish to work in a setting which offers reward and challenge and where no two days are the same.

This is a fixed term post starting from October 2021(although we can wait for the right candidate depending on notice etc). The successful candidate must hold English and Maths GCSE level ‘C’ or above or equivalent.

You will:

● Ideally have previous experience in this type of role or with children and young people
● Have a genuine interest in supporting children
● Be able to develop positive working relationships with pupils, parents, staff and other professionals.
● Be willing to undertake and act on relevant professional development and training.
● Be able to support in the delivery of high quality learning experiences for all pupils.
● Have high expectations of learning and behaviour and inspire and motivate our children.
● Be supportive, nurturing and understanding.
● Seek to make learning exciting and a positive experience.
● Work well as part of a team.
● Demonstrate good communication skills both orally and written.

We can offer you:

● Delightful children who respect each other, have a thirst for learning new things and a staff culture which allows new members to thrive and develop.
● Opportunities to further develop your craft and a leadership team that will support your ideas and use school resources to help your career aspirations.
● A school where staff have tailored professional opportunities and are encouraged to play their part in developing teaching and learning.
● Children who love being here and in their words ‘Braeburn is a happy school and we learn from each other’.

Join us and build a wonderful career in a school you are passionate about. Please contact James on the details below.

Welcome to Braeburn Primary and Nursery Academy and I am delighted that you are considering joining us as a staff member as we broaden our horizons together.

It is fair to say that since October 2018 we have seen a lot of change at Braeburn and we have renewed energy, commitment and a clear focus towards moving our school forward.

Since we joined the Ebor Academy Trust (in October 2018) we have seen rapid improvement in almost all areas of our work – and our community now comment on our improved well-being provision, our redesigned curriculum and our wider opportunities enrichment programme.

Our very creative staff have a real love of teaching and we are looking for a future member of our team who can develop that sense of awe and wonder in children. The children at Braeburn are delightful, happy, confident and energetic. They are passionate about their learning, be it in the traditional classroom or through drama, music, dance and sports. We are looking for someone who can embrace these aspects of the curriculum as well as English and Maths.

We have embedded new strategies which are underpinned by a Restorative approach to behaviour management. Many of our staff are now involved in the CPD programmes offered through the Opportunity Area and through our Trust.

The Ebor Academy Trust - a family of over 20 primary schools - offer wide ranging opportunities for our staff to access CPD and professional qualifications and draw upon specialists that will nurture, challenge and support you.

There are no limits to what our children can achieve if every single member of our community takes ownership of this, works hard and aspires for excellence. Our school motto encompasses our vision and aims for every member of our community:

Excellence through effort, aspiration and high expectations. We can because we believe we can.

We welcome visitors and hope that you will come and see for yourself what a happy place our school is and the journey we are on.

Tim Jolly (Headteacher)
