The School
Northcott is a Specialist School for 136 pupils aged 5-16, whose primary learning difficulty is Autism and SLCN. Northcott is an established provision for pupils with additional needs including Autism, SLCN, MLD and SpLD.
The Position
The school is seeking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant as soon as possible. Class sizes currently range from 8-12, but vary by banding, age and cohort. We are unable at this stage to confirm where in the school this role will be based, and so we welcome applications from candidates who can be flexible and have either primary or secondary experience.
We require a committed and innovative person with a passion to work with pupils with SEN, particularly pupils with autism. The successful applicant will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to build excellent relationships with pupils. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of community and will actively engage in all aspects of the wider school life.
We require an experienced teaching assistant with a proven track record of working with pupils with additional needs in either a mainstream or specialist environment. Please ensure all essential criteria are met before submitting an application. This post is for 29 hours per week, term time only. Normal working hours are from 8.50 am to 3.35 pm with an hour lunch break. There are also nine one hour training sessions run after school each year. We would like the successful candidate to agree to undertake lunchtime supervisory work for 2.5 hours per week, but this will be discussed with the successful applicants.
