What skills and experience we're looking for
The successful candidate will be working with pupils with EHCPs, other individuals, small groups and within whole classes to impact on children’s learning. They will need excellent communication skills, the ability to engage and motivate children and will be a committed member of the whole school team. The successful candidate will also have the ability to implement phonics, writing and maths group work and a knowledge of a range of intervention programmes.
You will:
- Have good subject knowledge in both English and Maths and the confidence and ability to support all pupils
- Be able to support in the delivery of high quality learning experiences for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and our more able pupils
- Have an understanding of safeguarding children
- Have experience of nurture and behaviour management
- Be supportive with high expectations of behaviour and conduct
- Have prior knowledge of a range of Wave 3 intervention programmes
- Be calm and patient
- Be able to see the potential in all of our pupils and be aspirational for them
- Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Be confident at using ICT, and willing to learn new skills
- Have the ability to work independently, showing initiative, as well as work as part of a team, co-operating and collaborating with other staff
- Have experience of creating good quality, interactive and stimulating displays
- Be willing to contribute to school life outside of the classroom
- Have the confidence and ability to cover for the class teacher during short periods (paid at the appropriate rate) when required
- Have a fun personality with a good sense of humour.
