Teaching Assistant Level 3 - ELSA Lead job summary
Pleckgate High School wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed ELSA Lead (TA3). If you are experienced, enthusiastic, open to new ideas and have a flexible ‘can do’ approach, we would welcome an application from you. This position is term time (39 weeks) and part time working 30 hours per week. The actual salary is £18,526 to £21,234 per annum.
What does this job do?
- To work under the direction of the SENDCo to deliver ELSA sessions to identified individual or small groups of pupils to support their social, emotional mental health so that they can achieve high levels of accelerated pupil progress.
- Plan and deliver individualised programmes of support for children to develop their emotional literacy.
- Delivering ELSA sessions to small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
- To support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting the inclusion of all pupils by developing their communication skills, supporting them to manage their behaviour, developing independence and social skills and to take responsibility for monitoring/ reporting on the impact of class-based interventions.
- To provide supervision and guidance and learning opportunities in all non-lesson-based activities.
- Liaising with the SENDCo and LPSOs on session planning, evaluating and adjusting future session plans as appropriate.
- Keep an accurate and up to date log of all sessions and logging this information on CPOMS.
- Administering and assessing routine tests to assess the pupils as needed.
What are the job requirements?
- GCSE or Equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics at level 9 – 5.
- Child Care/NVQ/ other relevant qualification (related to education is desirable) at level 3.
- Experience of support work with children in an educational setting.
- Experience of delivering interventions to small groups of students and on a 1:1 independently from the teacher.
- Experience of administering and assessing routine tests
- Experience of delivering ELSA support and Lego Therapy
- Experience of delivering Talking & Drawing Therapy
- Experience of delivering speech and language therapies
