Teaching Assistant Level 3 (On Board Centre Assistant) job summary

Pay Scale: Grade E, Point 11 – 16 (Actual Salary - £18,949) Contract: Term Time Only Hours: 36 per week Closing Date: 12th June 2022 Start Date: ASAP Our On Board Centre (OBC) is a room situated in our Learning Support Department which provides a wide range of support for students to allow them to thrive academically and be successful in school - it was recognised by Ofsted in our most recent inspection for the excellent support it provides. Students are referred to the On Board Centre by the school's pastoral team for a variety of reasons; for example, because they are experiencing health issues (physical or mental) which are making it hard for them to be in class, because they have experienced something difficult or upsetting outside of school or because they are struggling to manage aspects of their behaviour. Students will work for a set period of time in the OBC and, while there, they complete work set by their class teachers under the supervision and guidance of the OBC Team - expectations of students when working in the OBC are the same as they are elsewhere in the school and we insist on very high standards. We are looking for the right person to join this team in supporting and managing students in the On Board Centre, liaising with class teachers and other staff in school to ensure that, during their stay in the OBC, students work hard, remain safe and receive the support they need to resume their learning back in class. The School Droylsden Academy is a good school; this is a very exciting time to join us as we continue to build a team of committed professionals who are driven in making our vision of becoming outstanding a reality. “Pupils behave well, they are proud of their school and take on leadership roles readily” “The school’s core values of politeness, hardworking and honesty are in abundance” “Pupils are interested in their learning because teachers have excellent subject knowledge and plan carefully” From 1st January 2022, Droylsden Academy has become the founding member of the Tame River Educational Trust. You can find more information about this at: https://www.droylsdenacademy.com/tret/417608.html. Droylsden Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and other relevant checks with statutory bodies. It is an offence to apply for this role if you have been barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

Values and vision

Droylsden Academy is built on three core values: politeness, hard work and honesty. The secondary school encourages pupils to treat everyone and everything as they would wish to be treated and to be respectful, polite and courteous at all times.

Ofsted report

“This is an improving academy which is well led by an executive headteacher and a headteacher, who are instilling high expectations and aspirations for students and staff. Senior and middle leadership has been strengthened and this has given the academy greater capacity for further and more rapid improvement. Students are making better progress and their attainment is improving. An above-average percentage of students make expected progress in English. Work with outstanding schools has helped the academy to plan for improvement and has had a positive impact on the academy practices. Students’ behaviour is good. They are eager to learn and are increasingly embracing a stronger work ethos. The academy is a safe and caring community.”
