Grade 6 point 19-24. Annual salary £23,341-£26,264.

The Governing Body of Heybrook Primary and Nursery School is looking to appoint a permanent Teaching Assistant Level 4. It is anticipated that this role will be primarily based in the school’s communication hub, supporting pupils with SEN to access the curriculum.

In this post, you will lead the Communication Based resource for small groups of children mainly in Reception and Key Stage 1. You will set up play-based activities for children to follow their interests and develop their social skills, as well as working towards their targets on their IDPS. You will teach short phonics and Maths sessions, heavily adapting existing planning but you will have planning time each week.

You will have a passion for working with children with communication and or social and emotional needs and will show kindness, patience and compassion. It is essential that you have a knowledge of Early years practice, particularly play based learning. Ideally, you will be familiar with BLANKS levels and other SALT based systems (e.g. WELCOMM, ELKANN RENFREW as examples) but you will receive intensive support from SENCO and other professionals. As part of your PPA time, you will contribute to EHC paperwork alongside with the teacher. You will be able to develop excellent relationships with parents.
