Teaching Assistant / Lunchtime Supervisor job summary
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic TA/Lunchtime Supervisorto join our school on a part time basis. The successful candidate will be friendly, reliable and hard working.
Amongst your responsibilities you will be required to set up and clear away lunch, help supervise and assist children in having lunch and promote healthy eating, assisting in the school playground by creating play opportunities for our children to enjoy their lunch period.
In addition your responsibilities will include supporting our SEN children on a one to one basis, ensuring they are looked after appropriately according to their EHCP or additional needs plan.
The successful candidate will:
- Have an understanding, awareness and expectations of child behaviour.
- Be proactive and promote ‘positive play’ including actively engaging with children to ensure playtimes are enjoyable.
- Be able to work well with others, under guidance, and show your own initiative.
- Be a good communicator, great team player and have a good sense of humour.
- Have an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
Duties will include:
- Positively encouraging healthy eating and good behaviour, table manners and hygiene
- Promotion of ‘positive play’.
- Supervision of pupils to ensure their safety.
- Ensuring ill or injured children receive appropriate medical attention.
- Administer First Aid (training will be provided)
- Building positive relationships with the children.
- Assisting and supervising the clearing away and tidying of the eating area.
- To work with individuals and groups of students in class with additional needs under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
- Providing 1:1 support to SEN children within the classroom.
