About the role

We are seeking to appoint a part- time Teaching Assistant for a January 2026 start. The hours and term-time only work mode will suit candidates wanting to combine employment with family, caring or other responsibilities.

Supporting our Faculty of Learning, the post holder will be part of a large and successful SEND Department, based in a secondary school. The role will involve:

Assisting students to learn as effectively as possible in class, group and individual situations.

Encouraging the integration of students into classes.

  • Sharing information on the educational needs of students
  • Promoting students’ confidence and building motivation.
  • Helping in the development and review of student learning plans and reporting on students’ progress.
  • Carrying out break and lunchtime duties as needed.

About you

To apply, you will have a broad range of academic skills that will mean you can flexibly support all our key subjects, Science, Maths and English, and be passionate about improving student outcomes. You must have experience of using collaborative teaching methods and assessing and monitoring students’ progress. You will have an understanding of educational needs and appropriate strategies to support them. Excellent organisational, prioritising and team work skills are essential for working in a busy classroom environment.

Of prime importance are professional communication skills and the ability to maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people. You will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
