Teaching Assistant & Midday Supervisor job summary

Westfield is a happy school with highly motivated, friendly staff, and children who love to learn.

Our vision is for our children to become confident, independent and resilient learners. We believe that this is best achieved by applying a ‘growth mindset’ which is about encouraging our children to believe in themselves and their abilities. Through hard work and effort, we apply this approach to everything we do at Westfield. As a result, our children discover a love of learning, embracing the challenges which face them and crucially – equipping them for the future.

We believe that children learn more effectively if they feel happy, safe and secure. Well-being for all is at the heart of Westfield school life and we feel this is incredibly important now more than ever, as we continue to face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are very proud to have been awarded ' The Healthy Young Minds in Herts Accreditation for the whole school approach for Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Awareness'.

We are now looking for an experienced Teaching assistant to join our team, who preferably has had experience of working with children to support their emotional wellbeing as well as all aspects of their learning.

Classroom duties include teaching groups, planning activities, maintaining the high standards of behaviour and classroom management we expect and supporting the social and emotional needs of the children.

As a Midday Supervisory Assistant you will support our Midday Supervision team, ensuring that our children have a safe and enjoyable lunchtime experience. Currently this is with one class bubble group within the classroom setting.

You will need to be patient, work in a calm and positive manner, literate and numerate, have initiative and the ability to work as part of a team. In return, we can offer:

- A friendly and supportive team
- Excellent resources in a bright, modern school
- Supportive parents, staff and governors
- Excellent professional development opportunities

The Teaching Assistant will be paid on scale point H3 and the Midday Supervisory Assistant on scale point HB.

Our most recent Ofsted Inspection highlighted that the school: "provides an outstanding education for its pupils. A potent combination of excellent teaching and leadership, together with pupils' very positive attitudes and eagerness to learn, is the key to the school's success." (March 2010).

Full Job Descriptions of both Teaching Assistant and MSA roles are attached. As a school we are committed to ensuring equal opportunity to all applicants.

If you wish to apply, please submit fully completed application form by midday on Sunday 29th November 2020. Interviews will take place on either Tuesday 1st or Wednesday 2nd December 2020. You will be informed of the outcome of your application as soon as possible after the closing date.
