What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a fixed term contract for 30 hours per week, starting in September 2024 until 31st August 2025. The post is Monday to Friday, term time only including INSET days.

The prime responsibility will be to provide class-based learning support for children in EYFS or KS1 or KS2. There will be a significant element of supporting children with complex SEND needs i.e. meeting the provisions detailed on EHC Plans. Please note that supervising children at lunchtime is also key requirement of the role.

This role is suitable for colleagues with a commitment to inclusion and who would love to support children with a range of complex educational and social needs. You may be an experienced practitioner looking for a supportive and caring school to work in. This is also an exciting opportunity for graduates or school/college leavers who are considering entering the teaching profession and wish to gain some experience before applying to initial teacher training providers. We will offer training on the job for this role, as well as opportunities to prepare you for teacher training/interview.

You must have a genuine interest in working with children and entering the education profession. You will have lots of energy, resilience, adaptability and a willingness to work in a team. We would particularly welcome any specialist skills such as autism awareness, first aid, music or sport etc. as we would work with you to ensure you get the opportunity to develop these with our children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
