About the Job

This is a very exciting opportunity to work in the Alternative Provision field with young people who are unable to attend their usual schools due to their physical or mental health needs. Hospital and Outreach Education currently work with pupils in Northampton and Kettering General Hospitals, The Sett and Burrows CAMHS inpatient units, Delapre Learning Centre, Stanwick Lakes and in pupils’ homes across Northamptonshire.

Our staff have a usual place of work defined each day but are required to be flexible in terms of their deployment at our different locations based on pupil need.

We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant or Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work in our service across Northamptonshire. Initially this is likely to be based in Northampton but you may be required to travel within Northamptonshire, including working with pupils in their homes.

This is a temporary position for one year in the first instance.

Hours of Work

Hours of Work: Part- time, 18.25 hours per week, term time only. More hours may be available to cover absent colleagues as and when required.

8:30 - 15:30 Wednesday and Thursday

9:00 - 14:15 Friday

30 minutes unpaid lunch break each day

Teaching Assistant (8-11) -£24,633 - £26,014 FTE - £11,042 - £11,661 Actual

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (11-14) -£26,014 - £27,480 FTE - £11,661 - £12,218 Actual

Essentials: You must have a commitment to work with teenagers with a range of mental and physical health needs.

The post will involve contact with children and engaging in regulated activity with children. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

It is renowned for having a climate of high expectations of pupils, despite the impact of their illness, enabling them to access education and fulfil their potential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly successful AP Academy. Ofsted recently inspected HOE and found that “Relationships between pupils and staff are warm and trusting.” We were graded Good overall with Outstanding for ‘Personal Development’ and ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’.
