Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference in young learners’ lives?
Are you able to provide support for pupils, including those with special needs and English as and additional language?
Are you committed to ensuring our pupils' safety and access to learning activities?
If so, we'd love to hear from you.
Your Role:
As a Teaching Assistant (Primary) at Thomas Deacon Academy Juniors, you will assist the classroom teacher in supporting and including all pupils, helping them access learning and encouraging their interaction and independence. You will supervise activities, establish supportive relationships with pupils, and promote their inclusion and acceptance. Your responsibilities include preparing the classroom, supporting the use of ICT, and assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plans and Education Health Care Plans. You will also provide feedback to teachers on pupils' achievements and progress, and support the curriculum by aiding in literacy, numeracy, and other learning strategies.
To excel in this role, you will need strong communication skills, the ability to work empathetically with children, and experience in supporting pupils with special needs and EAL. You should have a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English, and a willingness to undertake appropriate first aid training. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.
About Us:
We are a friendly and supportive team who pride ourselves on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Our dedicated staff members work collaboratively to provide an outstanding educational experience for our students. We are committed to professional development and there will be opportunities to train in relevant teaching and learning strategies. Being part of a team of teaching assistants means that you will feel supported and challenged in this role.
The Academy’s recent Ofsted inspection in November 2024 noted that “pupils benefit from a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated. They enjoy celebrating each other’s differences and participating in cultural activities. The school provides an ambitious curriculum that ensures pupils develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills from Year 3 through to Year 13, preparing them well for their next stage of education or employment. The Ofsted inspection rated all areas, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision, as 'Good'”.
At Thomas Deacon Academy, we believe in the power of courtesy, commitment, compassion, courage, curiosity, and confidence. These values are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who embodies them in their work.
