Teaching Assistant (Primary) job summary
The role
We are seeking a committed, professional Teaching Assistant to work in the primary school of our academy.
There is an expectation that the post holder will operate in line with the professional standards expected of a teacher, providing supervision for students and support for the teaching staff.
This role supports the management of our academy. Due to the nature of a TA role often being more flexible than the timetable of a teacher, this role potentially has a requirement to contribute more widely to the supervision of the academy through duties such as lunch and/or break duty, before school breakfast or after school homework clubs. Any such duties will be built into the timetable of the individual post holder.
About You
You have the specialist knowledge, skills, understanding and experience relevant to the nature of this post. You will be expected to use considerable initiative and contribute to planning over the short and medium term. The work will involve responding independently to unexpected problems and situations, exercising good professional judgement.
Essential criteria include having excellent literacy and numeracy skills, including qualifications equivalent to Level 2 in English and Maths. Previous experience of working with children with special needs would be an advantage.
Commitment to safeguarding
Kettering Buccleuch Academy is committed to equal opportunities and to the protection and safety of all students and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share these commitments.
Each post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
