Twerton Infant School and Nursery is a 2-form entry infant school with an onsite Nursery for 2 and 3 year olds. We are an LA Maintained school and we work closely with 6 other primary schools in BANES within the South Gloucester Learning Alliance, which provides wide-ranging support and CPD. The school has a long-established reputation for being both inclusive and responsive to children’s individual needs.
Our recent OFSTED inspection rated the whole school as Good.
We have an excellent on-site Forest School, providing fantastic outdoor learning for all children, including those with additional needs. We also follow the Thrive approach, which supports children’s wellbeing and mental health. Our motto is ‘Play, Learn, Grow, Live Well Together. Thrive at Twerton - the School that Cares’ and this is embedded in everything we do.
We are one of seven schools in BANES who are part of the St John’s Primary Empowerment Programme which is enabling us to work closely over a sustained period of time with key delivery partners:
• Ruth Miskin Education
• Brighter Futures
• White Rose Maths
• HCRG Care Group (Speech and Language)
• Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team
We also enjoy close community links and receive support from:
• Bath Recreation – additional PE provision;
• Bath Rugby Club – learning support from senior squad players
• Bath City Football Club – Play Support and afterschool club
• Prior Park College – Sixth Form Reading Volunteers
• RSVP – Reading Volunteers
We have developed a broad Curriculum and we use Drawing Club, Curious Quests and Read Write Ink throughout the school.
We understand that the pandemic changed many things. More than ever, we all need to balance the demands of professional life with time for family, friendships and other pursuits.
