What skills and experience we're looking for
Thank you for your enquiry about the key post of Teaching Assistant at The Elmgreen School. We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work as part of our inclusion team who has a passion to see all students succeed and a commitment to ensuring that the students at The Elmgreen School share that passion. You should be able to demonstrate successful experience in supporting students in the area of Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
Key Responsibilities
To work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff to undertake curriculum, care and support programmes, to enable access to learning for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. To assist the teacher and SEMH Resource Base Lead in the management of students working either in the classroom or with smaller groups of students or one to one.
Support for Students
- Supervise and provide particular support for students identified on the Special Educational Needs Register, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
- Assist with the development and implementation of Behaviour Plans or Pastoral Support Plans
Support for Teachers
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lessons and interventions
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support students to achieve learning goals
- Assist with the planning of learning activities
- Monitor students’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
