Presfield High School is an oversubscribed specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19. All our 117 students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need. We are advocates of Dr Stephen Shore’s belief that “If you have met one child with autism you have met ONE child with autism”. This underpins all that we do and we are committed to challenging the stereotypical views that are often associated with Autism.
We passionately believe in empowering our students and their families to advocate for their individual needs to support them to make meaningful contributions to society and to gain employment if that is their chosen destination. This is demonstrated in our diverse curriculum that promotes an aspirational academic and social pathway.
We are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and Young People and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be requested to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Due to the nature of the work involved, this post is "exempt" from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
