What skills and experience we're looking for
To work under the direction/guidance of the Class teacher and SENCo to support particular pupil(s) in all areas of the curriculum.
To provide structured support across all age ranges under the management of the Assessment Lead/SLT.
To promote the inclusion of all pupils.
Work will be carried out inside the main teaching area with individual pupils or small groups as appropriate.
To be able to deliver the relevant curriculum across the primary phase.
To provide support at lunchtime and breaks as necessary.
To provide intimate care as necessary for children that are toilet training.
Main responsibilities and tasks
1. To work under the direction/guidance of the Class teacher and SENCo, to supervise and provide particular support for pupils to enable them to learn as effectively as possible on their own and in group situations taking into account individual needs.
2. To support the pupil(s) in the development of social and academic skills eg: speaking, reading, writing, spelling, phonics and mathematics.
3. To liaise closely with the class teacher and Assessment Lead as appropriate to support the implementation of any IEPs designed for the pupils(s).
4. To monitor the pupil(s) progress and report on any achievements or developments to the Class teacher or SENCo.
5. To prepare resources for individuals or groups of children daily.
6. To promote and model positive behaviour in line with the School's Behaviour Policy and to demonstrate high expectations of work and behaviour and to promote pivotal behaviour culture.
7. To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
8. Any other broadly analogous duties as required by the Head Teacher.
