We are an 11-16 school that serves the communities of Walney Island and Barrow in Furness. We have a very simple goal, to ensure that all our students are supported and stretched to reach their potential and leave as happy, well-rounded individuals with the qualifications and skills they need for the next stage in their lives. We do this in a culture of wanting students to be:
Proud of their achievements
Proud of their school
Proud of their Community
To that end we aim to develop the whole child. Schools are places of learning and here at Walney School that learning stretches beyond classrooms and qualifications. Great schools are about much more than just exams and throughout their five years with us, students enjoy a breadth of opportunities and experiences in a safe, inclusive and highly caring environment.
We are proud of our broad educational experience that combines the highest quality teaching with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities that allow students to grow and develop as individuals. From residential visits to the Lake District, France and skiing in the Alps to opportunities in sport, music, performing arts, technology and even gardening - there is something for everyone at Walney School.
