Teaching Assistant XS10.4b job summary
We are seeking to appoint an innovative Teaching Assistant to support students in school and in our specialist Complex Communication Needs base. You will be skilled at engaging and motivating students who find learning and communicating a challenge, in the classroom as well as during intervention groups.
Our CCN base is a provision which supports 9 students, who are fully integrated in to our mainstream school alongside their peers. These students are offered additional resources, intervention and at times different spaces to work as needed, in order to help them succeed in school.
As a CCN base teaching assistant, you will be supporting students with special educational needs, specifically autism and associated difficulties. Aiding the teacher to deliver the curriculum, you will help children and young people to understand and access activities and overcome challenging behaviour both in the main classroom and in the base.

- Good at building relationships with young people and other adults
- Qualified at least to level 2 (grade C or above at GCSE) in English and Maths
- Able to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality
- Adaptable, flexible, proactive and relentlessly optimistic

We can offer excellent working conditions, a supportive environment and training. The superb facilities include modern designated facilities for all curriculum areas, an on-site nursery and a new sports complex.
Wessex Multi-Academy Trust is committed to Equal Opportunities and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This will be part of a safeguarding check, the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
