Teaching Assistants job summary

Manor Abbey School is a provision for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with an EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties

The new, state of the art school in Abbey Hulton, Stoke on Trent, opened in September 2024. There was an initial intake of upto 30 pupils across year 7 and 8. The school will progressively fill over 4 years until it reaches its capacity of 70 places.

Due to our increasing pupil numbers, we are looking for a Teaching Assistant who can make learning fun and practical . The successful candidate will to demonstrate they can meet the needs of secondary aged children who have experienced difficulty in accessing mainstream education.

Be inclusive, empathetic, solution focused and passionate about making a difference for our learners

Be a caring, patient and proactive individual with excellent communication.

Experience of working with children with SEMH needs ( or a strong willingness to learn).

Have an awareness of trauma informed practices and positive mental health promotion

Have a clear understanding of, and ability to, manage behaviour that challenges

Be a a team player and a strong advocate for change , progression and continuous school improvement
