Join the Team at Tywardreath Primary School!

Are you passionate about making a difference in a school that feels like a community?

Nestled in the heart of a beautiful coastal village, Tywardreath Primary School is looking for three enthusiastic, dedicated, and caring individuals to join our hardworking team. We pride ourselves on our welcoming atmosphere, our "lovely" setting, and our commitment to ensuring every child thrives.

We are currently seeking to fill three fixed-term positions to support our pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

About the Roles

1. SEN Specialist (24 hours/week) We are looking for someone with a heart for inclusion. You will work closely with pupils who have specific learning needs, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals. Experience with 1:1 support or specific interventions is highly desirable. (Ref EMG2526316)

2. EYFS Specialist (18.5 hours/week) If you love the magic of the early years, this is for you! You will help our youngest learners explore, play, and grow in a stimulating environment. You’ll need a solid understanding of the EYFS framework and a knack for sparking curiosity in little minds. (Ref EMG2526315)

3. Teaching Assistant (24 hours/week) This is a versatile role supporting a primary classroom. You’ll assist the class teacher in delivering lessons, managing small groups, and creating a positive learning environment where every child feels seen and supported. (Ref EMG2526168)

Why Tywardreath?

A Supportive Environment: You’ll be joining a team that treats each other like family.

Stunning Location: Work in a beautiful area with a strong sense of local identity.

Engaged Pupils: Our children are curious, kind, and a genuine joy to teach.

Professional Growth: We value our staff and provide opportunities for ongoing development.

What We Are Looking For:

Relevant experience or qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred).

A "can-do" attitude and a sense of humour.

A deep-seated belief that every child can succeed.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

About You:

We are looking for someone who doesn’t just teach but inspires. You will be a champion for a child-centered approach, placing the unique needs and dreams of every pupil at the very heart of your practice. You will breathe life into a creative, inclusive, and challenging curriculum—one designed to ignite curiosity, spark motivation, and foster a lifelong love of discovery.

Whether under the roof of our vibrant classrooms or within the natural beauty of our outdoor learning spaces, you will be the architect of high-quality teaching and learning environments that push boundaries and celebrate every child's progress.

Leading the Way

At Tywardreath, we are proud of our history but excited for our future. We are seeking individuals who:

Drive Excellence: Demonstrate a proven track record of making a significant contribution to school improvement, bringing fresh ideas and a dedicated work ethic.

Embrace Community: Carry an infectious enthusiasm for our strong community identity, acting as a bridge between the school, our families, and the village we call home.

Nurture Joy: Lead with a passion that complements our already flourishing and happy school, ensuring that as we grow, our warm and welcoming spirit remains our greatest strength.

Tywardreath has its own unique identity and is a truly inspirational place to learn and work. Our dedicated and talented team are committed to making learning both exciting and challenging.

We all work hard to ensure the children receive the very best education and to prepare our children not only for their next phase of education, but to equip them with the skills they need to become good citizens who really can make a difference in the world.

We have a long tradition of sporting excellence and encourage participation and competitive sports through a range of clubs including swimming, cross-country, football, netball, athletics, rounders and Taiko drumming. We have extensive school grounds including a garden and forest-school area.

We are very fortunate to have a high-spec swimming pool on site which was built in partnership with our wonderful community. Our children swim every week throughout the year and we are also able to offer private swimming lessons after school

We know that children are far more likely to succeed when staff and parents work together to support children with their learning. We therefore aim to develop a close co-operation between home and school. We offer to meet formally and informally through the year and through each phase of the children’s schooling with events such as ‘meet the teacher’, open afternoons, drop-in sessions, parent consultations as well as a myriad of community events. These community events are organised and run by our fantastic PSA and they provide the more informal opportunities to get involved with school-life.
