We are a 3-16 all age fully inclusive Academy. We are on an exciting journey to become an outstanding organisation having just secured our best ever set of exam results. We offer state-of-the-art facilities in an amazing £36 million building providing staff with the opportunity to teach in a cutting edge and vibrant environment.
We are a school focused on staff development through Instruction Coaching and the use of Deliberate Practice. We aim for Consistency, Clarity and Certainty in all we do. We are a value driven organisation and our values drive all our interactions in our school community.
In 2018 we joined the then recently formed Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E multi academy trust, providing a great opportunity to work closely with the other outstanding schools in the MAT - St James’s C of E High School, Canon Slade School and more recently Bury C of E High School, sharing good practice and working collaboratively in the best interests of our students.

We are looking to recruit a full time Teaching Head of Year on a permanent basis, starting ASAP.
The successful candidate will be:
§ be an acknowledged practitioner with a clear understanding of the characteristics of high-quality teaching and proven experience of teaching across the whole age and ability range
§ motivate both colleagues and students to work hard and try their best through passing on to them their infectious enthusiasm and passion for teaching!
§ actively share good practice and seek to explore ways to improve their own and others’ teaching
§ work hard to ensure all students make at least expected progress irrespective of their starting point and individual needs
§ understand that behaviour management starts with the quality of teaching in the classroom
§ demonstrate leadership qualities including personal resilience, drive and initiative and role model those personal qualities we wish to see in all our staff and instill in our young people

Bolton St Catherine’s Academy educates children and young people from 3 to 16 years of age. In 2018, the Primary school gained the best KS2 results of any school in the BL2 postcode area and was in the top 3 % nationally for Maths and the top 10% nationally for Writing and our 2022 GSCS are our best ever seeing a massive increase from pre-pandemic levels. This is testament to the amazing staff team and students. This year sees us embark on the next iteration of our key CPD offer of Instructional coaching putting us at the vanguard of evidence informed staff development.
