The Priory Learning Trust is looking to recruit a Teaching Head of Year to work at our Priory Community School – An Academy. This is a very exciting opportunity for an individual who would relish the chance to join us.
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher to join our pastoral team from September 2022 as a Head of Year. Our Head of Years have a reduced teaching timetable to ensure that they are able to appropriately support their year group and tutors in order to give students the ability to fulfil their potential. In addition to this, we have two non-teaching Pupil Premium coordinators to further support them in their roles.
The role of the Head of Year is an integral pastoral role and it includes supporting students with positive behaviours, safeguarding, improving attendance and encouraging participation in Year group events.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for the right person, irrespective of the subject they teach. You should have excellent communication skills, be able to work as a highly effective team member and have exceptional time management skills.
What you will do:
Ensure students are supported in their academic and personal development throughout their time at the school.
Lead a team of tutors in the delivery of the school’s pastoral provision and academic monitoring programme, ensuring high quality learning experiences within the tutorial programme and high quality support to students.
Support the oversight of Student Voice and Student Leadership within your year group.
The successful candidates will have:
A Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Relevant teaching experience in KS3 and KS4.
An understanding of pastoral needs of students.
