What skills and experience we're looking for
The governors at Appleby Primary School are seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated and highly motivated SENDCO to join our team.
At Appleby Primary School we are proud of our inclusive ethos and the successful candidate will lead and manage Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across our inclusive, one-form entry school and strategic resourced provision which provides specialist support for 8 pupils. They will be responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day operation of our SEND provision, working closely with the headteacher, leadership team and governors. The SENDCO will undertake a part-time teaching commitment within the school and 0.4fte non-contact time
The successful candidate will:
- Be an excellent teacher with a commitment to demonstrating high expectations for themselves, all pupils and colleagues.
- Be a highly effective classroom practitioner who is willing to learn and develop whilst sharing their own expertise to develop others.
- Be a positive role model to pupils and colleagues, demonstrating high levels of motivation and enthusiasm
- Have a strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the ability to lead others in providing high-quality inclusive teaching.
- Be and excellent communicator, well organised and able to work as part of an effective and committed team
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- A commitment to undertake the NPQ SENCo qualification if they do not already have a national award for SEND co-ordination.
