Teaching/Welfare Assistant job summary

The Bridge School are seeking to appoint permanent Teaching Assistants & Welfare Assistants on a permanent contract. Start date: As soon as possible

32.5 hours per week 39 Weeks per year. (Term time plus INSET days) Term time hours of work: Monday - Friday 08.30 until 3.15 pm each day other than Tuesday finish time of 4.30 pm for staff meeting. Start date: As soon as possible

Grade 14  £14,426 - £15,010 Actual annual gross salary. Dependent on experience

We are looking for teaching assistants and welfare assistants to support both our teaching & learning team and our welfare team.

Teaching Assistants: Support teaching and learning, working 1:1 and with small groups of students, supporting the class teacher to deliver planned learning opportunities.

Welfare Assistants: Working as part of the welfare team, provide mentoring support to students, supporting attendance and safeguarding team and providing support around behaviour incidents.

The Bridge School, Sedgemoor is the Pupil Referral Unit for mainstream schools in Sedgemoor, we support a number of students across the age range from 4 - 16 years where they are at risk or have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. We are looking for dynamic, positive, creative and resilient practitioners who can support children and young people across the school.

The post-holder will need to be able to problem solve, show empathy and resilience and be able to support children and young people with complex needs. They may be required to support with behaviours which challenge, liaise with parents and carers and work 1:1 and with small groups of students.

You may be required to take students off-site and in to the community to support them with their educational or welfare programmes.

You will be expected to demonstrate:

Excellent Communication skills
An understanding of how children and young people learn
An ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families
Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
