Team Leader - Learning & Welfare (Oxford) job summary

Are you energetic, enthusiastic, resilient and able to use your initiative?
Are you an excellent practitioner with a passion for achieving the best outcomes for learners at risk of exclusion and those with complex needs?
Can you build positive relationships with young people and really make a difference?
We would love to hear from you!

Meadowbrook College is an Alternative Provision (AP) Academy located across four sites in Oxfordshire: Banbury, Oxford, Bicester and Abingdon, supporting students who have either been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from school. The academy offers students a unique approach, based on an integrated curriculum of core, vocational and technical learning. We offer our students another chance and provide a high quality, safe learning environment in which to develop positive behaviours and skills which can be used to improve their life chances. We work hard to ensure our young people achieve the best outcomes they can by creating individual educational packages which meet their needs and equip them for their next destination. Our hope for our students is that they will re-engage with learning, be successful and achieve their goals. Our aim is for every one of our students to move on to college, school, an apprenticeship or employment.

We are seeking to recruit an outstanding student progress and pastoral leader to organize and lead our Oxford Centre KS3/4 provision. If you have a passion for finding solutions in the most challenging of circumstances and a clear commitment to supporting and developing the vision for our academy and academy trust, then we would love to hear from you.  This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a talented and committed professional with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff alike; a unique opportunity to make a substantial contribution to further improving outcomes for a significant group of vulnerable and challenging learners.

As the Student Progress and Pastoral Leader you will be:

  • Highly motivated, with a passion for improving the life chances of young people.
  • An outstanding professional, with proven results in your field.
  • Ready to lead with an ability to effectively develop the practice of others.
  • An effective communicator with exemplary organisational skills.

This post will include lead responsibility for the successful day-to-day operation of provision at the Oxford Centre including behaviour and relationships and overall student progress.  It will involve direct work with staff, students, parents and other professionals.  The student progress and pastoral leader will ensure that all the elements necessary to achieving outstanding outcomes for our learners are in place and fully accessed.

All staff and volunteers are also expected to promote fundamental British values. This post involves the type of work with children and young people that require applicants to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post. All cases are considered confidentially and according to the nature of the role and information disclosed. On-line searches are carried out on those shortlisted
