About the Role

The Technician role is integral to the AMID Faculty, whilst most of it is behind the scenes it does require a certain amount of student facing support too in the classroom. The role includes the ordering and supply of resources, preparing resources for each lesson, assisting the teacher with lesson support encouraging and motivating students to achieve their very best. At the end of the day you will provide support in tidying classrooms, putting aways resources and ensuring the Faculty is a safe place to learn in. You will be responsible for maintaining and organising tools, machinery and workspace. This role can be quite demanding at times therefore careful preparation and forward planning and thinking are vital ingredients to the success of this role.

About the Faculty

Students enjoy all aspects of our Art curriculum here at Key Stage 3 and numbers are increasing to opt to continue study at Key Stage 4 into a wide variety of courses including Fine Art, Photography and Art Textiles. This has continued to grow at Key Stage 5. Much of the work has been developed at Key Stage 3 with schemes of learning which is regularly adapted, revisited, developed, and refined to reflect the evolving Art curriculum. We are incredibly proud of our curriculum and on-going work to redesign the curriculum to play to the strengths of our Art specialist teachers and students. Ensuring every student is an artist and ambitious with their art and creativity.

Our curriculum has creativity and artistic scope, utilising a wide variety of artistic skills, both traditional and modern, it allows students to explore different skills and materials with specialist support and knowledge. Developing their understanding and knowledge of artistic practices, ideas, art movements and skills. At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA syllabus, where students study a wide range of skills and techniques linked to famous artists, photographers, and practitioners with the choice of Fine Art, Photography and Art Textiles.

Professional development, particularly subject knowledge and skills is a main priority in the department, and we share a variety of different skill sets and specialisms. Every subject teacher contributes to the development of the curriculum and is given the opportunity to share good practice and skills.

The Art department itself is a vibrant and ambitious place and is developing the opportunities to attend several extra-curricular activities such as Art Gallery and Museum trips to key locations. We welcome applications from Technicians that share our passions for this amazing subject and can make a profound contribution to our high-quality offer.
