Technician - Technology and Art job summary

We are looking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic Technician of Technology & Art to join our Academy in February 2020. Details below:

To liaise regularly with the Heads of Department.
To prepare materials within the departments and assist with the demonstration of lessons.
To provide basic maintenance and setting up of workshop tools and machinery.
To support staff in the use of ICT, including CAD/CAM.
To organise, maintain and monitor all tools, machines, cameras and equipment.
To order resources and stock for both departments.
To maintain an inventory and management of materials and stock.
To use heat treatment facilities; brazing, welding and casting.
To report faulty machinery and liaise with contractors where appropriate.
To provide support to photography lessons including use of chemicals in the darkroom.
To maintain classroom displays.
To complete Health and Safety audits and provide advice to staff.
To organise sales to students.
To organise and run After School Clubs in Technology
To complete Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of all electrical equipment in designated areas.
To assist teaching staff to support teaching and learning in the classroom.
To carry out Fire Marshall duties in the case of Fire and/or Emergency Evacuation.
To be aware of and work in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, including the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018.
To understand and comply with the statutory guidance regarding safeguarding of children, ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare at all times, reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer immediately.
To comply with the Trust and academy’s policies and procedures at all times.
