Technology NQT for September 2020 job summary
Are you looking to start to your teaching career in a supportive school who will help you become the teacher you want to be?
We are seeking a newly qualified teacher to join our successful and forward-thinking Design Technology department to teach Fashion (Textiles) up to KS4, with the potential for KS5 for the right candidate, and with a little Food Technology. You will be a creative thinker with a modern approach to design and the use of technology, while ensuring that key traditional skills are learned and retained by students. You will join a well-equipped and leading department in a heavily over-subscribed academy.
Our Ofsted Report February 2020 says “The school has a warm and welcoming atmosphere” and “Pupils at The Highcrest Academy happily live up to the school’s motto of ‘aspire and achieve’.”.
Our aim is to establish a culture of excellence throughout every element of our academy and move us from Good to Outstanding.
Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet have also featured in the national Ofsted report for providing challenge to the most able.
There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand-new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym and dance studio, and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff. We also have a thriving House system that brings our whole school community together.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Highcrest Academy is fully committed to safeguarding children (policies on web). All members of staff are in a “regulated” role under the Vetting & Barring Scheme and have to be DBS cleared prior to employment.

"The school has a warm and welcoming atmosphere" and "Pupils at The Highcrest Academy happily live up to the school's motto of 'aspire and achieve'." Ofsted 2020
All who work at the academy reinforce our six virtues linked to our motto (Ambition, Sensitivity, Purpose, Integrity, Resilience and Eloquence), helping us instil a culture of excellence that runs throughout every strand of our Academy.
Situated in the leafy Chilterns and within easy reach of Central London, Highcrest is culturally and academically diverse and is the only academy in Buckinghamshire that caters for students of ‘all abilities’. Some of our students need all your support, whilst others need to be challenged and stretched. Our inclusive and successful House system, a wide range of clubs, visits and trips helps to bring our whole school community together. There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, including the Sixth Form. Recent additions to our site include a gym and restaurant/coffee shop for both staff and students, as well as a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre.
A thriving and friendly academy in the heart of the community, where your well-being is paramount. We offer staff recognition schemes, free gym and staff sports teams, plus a paid Well-being Day for all staff. There is also the possibility of shared staff living accommodation and on-site parking.
