Job summary

The Governors of Brunswick Community Primary School are looking to appoint a Temporary Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide one to one classroom support for a child with specific needs. The post is to cover maternity leave and will commence Monday 1st November 2021 until 31st August 2022, this may potentially be longer depending on the return of the postholder.

Applications are invited from motivated enthusiastic individuals who will support the team ethos of our school and join our hardworking and supportive staff. The person appointed will be able to build and sustain positive relationships with children and adults, and have a commitment to personal training and development.

The successful candidate will support the inclusion of a child with physical and communication difficulties, either individually or in a group situation. Under the direction of teaching staff, implement strategies to support the child’s learning and behaviour, providing verbal reports as required. Promoting and supporting positive links between home and school.

Applicants should possess a high standard of spoken and written English, hold GCSE qualifications in English & Maths or their equivalent and preferably hold NVQ for teaching assistants or an equivalent qualification.

Previous experience of working with Special Educational Needs children or knowledge of specialist learning strategies, for example, makaton would be advantageous. The ability to work as part of a team and attend for training days is essential.
