Temporary Teacher of English, Maternity Leave Cover job summary
Hagley Catholic High School is looking to recruit an ambitious and passionate temporary Teacher of English, Maternity Leave Cover, for the start of the spring term. It would be desirable that the candidate has the ability to teach across all year groups from KS3 to KS5.
Hagley Catholic High School is a high performing school (P8 = +0.35 in 2019) set in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside with very good transport links, including a main train line to Birmingham and Worcester. It is a happy and caring school with a very strong Catholic ethos, community cohesion and commitment to global justice through its charity work.
The English Department is popular and very well regarded. It has a very well-established team of ten staff; schemes of learning are well sequenced, and students make excellent progress. Students secure very good GCSE results, 94.5% achieving 4 – 9 grades in 2021 and 46.2% of students achieving 7 - 9 grades. The department also secured an excellent value added English score of +0.53/+0.31 for Language/Literature respectively, placing it well above the national average. Students achieve well in English at A level and are consistently above national averages: value added scores were +0.72/+0.44 for Language/Literature in 2021.

Hagley Catholic High School is part of the Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company with five of our Catholic feeder schools. Currently our school has population of 1136 pupils aged 11 – 18 including a Sixth Form of 200. The school operates under the patronage of St Nicholas Owen and is dedicated to developing a Catholic community in which all students work towards fulfilling their potential in a safe and supportive environment.
The school is situated in Worcestershire, bordering on to West Midlands, in a semi-rural setting some twelve miles south west of Birmingham. The village of Hagley is within close proximity to the national motorway network, yet still enjoys views of the Clent Hills and beautiful surrounding countryside.
The school has a Pupil Admission Number of 190 with six forms of entry, however, we are heavily over-subscribed. The school enjoys an excellent reputation and commands a high degree of parental and parish support. Students come to Hagley mainly from Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Halesowen, Stourport-on-Severn, Bewdley and South West Birmingham.
