Train to Teach at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College!
We are looking for graduates who have a passion for education and their subject specialism, are positive, enthusiastic, organised, creative, flexible, and patient and have a desire to share these skills with young people of all abilities in the secondary age range in an 11-18 school.
Location and Subjects:
The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College in Wroughton, Swindon working in partnership with an accredited University.
Secondary: Computer Science; English; Mathematics; Modern Foreign Languages; Biology; Chemistry; Physics, Design and Technology
About the role:
The Ridgeway School offers the school-led route into teaching and is accredited by the University of Reading. It is a two-year programme starting from September through to July and leads to the award of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with up to 60 level seven credits and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
This will be a school based route for graduates to be fast tracked into teaching, and it provides a great experience if you want to train and learn ‘on the job’ whilst being paid. You will learn hands-on in the classroom and at the university. You will be part of a school based teaching team from the very start, receiving support from experienced teachers and mentors. You will have the opportunity to become immersed in school life, developing a greater understanding of teaching pedagogy, school systems and pastoral care to develop you into an excellent practitioner.
Importantly, you will access an outstanding academic programme of study at via an accredited route, which will support you to understand the theory behind teaching whilst developing and practicing your skills in school.
