Trust CEO Part-Time job summary

0.6 full time equivalent with some flexibility in hours required - Competitive salary available for the right candidate.

The Black Pear Trust in Worcestershire is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead our group of following the retirement of the founding CEO and Executive Principal.

Black Pear Trust is a small but growing MAT of three primary schools in Worcester and Kidderminster, which expects to expand to five or more schools over the next two years. We work personally and collaboratively with all our stakeholders, so our growth strategy means staying within a manageable number of schools within a workable distance. Our Trust motto, Growing Excellent Learning Communities Together, reflects our inclusive philosophy that everyone within our community has a role in learning, starting with our children and their parents and growing to other schools and higher institutions. We set high expectations for all our children and believe that enabling them and their wider community to achieve is everyone’s responsibility.

Schools within our trust work together, sharing professional development and best practice. We also work collaboratively with a number of schools within Worcestershire, and nationally, on various research projects, and through our highly rated school improvement work. Our Black Pear ITT Alliance is an alliance of good local schools, including those outside our Trust, who train teachers to an excellent standard.

The transition from primary to secondary school is an important life transition that can affect children’s attainment and wellbeing in the longer term. We work with our local secondary schools to minimise the impact of major changes that all children experience during transition to high school that can negatively impact on their learning.

We are also proud to work closely with a number of higher education institutions. Worcester University class us as an outstanding partner and we work with them to support teacher training and to provide good quality continuing professional development for our staff. University College Birmingham support our teacher apprenticeship scheme, through pedagogy and professional studies. We are excited to be working with Warwick University on a research project to encourage children from disadvantaged backgrounds to be successful in applying to university. Our work with higher institutions enables us to keep all of our practitioners aware of current advances in education.

The Opportunity

The Black Pear Trust board is looking to appoint a colleague with the vision, ambition, educational knowledge and values to continue to lead, support and develop our schools as we continue to grow our learning communities across Worcestershire.

What we are looking for in a new CEO:

• An ambassador for our Trust, inspiring and empowering others, whilst maintaining a high standard of personal integrity and professional conduct
• Someone who can set a clear vision of, and lead, the ethos, development and success of the Black Pear Trust in correspondence with the board of Trustees.
• A leader who can oversee, lead and inspire our staff team across all of our Trust schools, working with our head teachers to ensure a healthy and positive culture among staff of all levels
• A leader with a track record of school improvement.
• A leader who can work with other stakeholders to ensure the success of our schools and Trust
• A strategic thinker who can work with others to develop new structures and systems across schools
