Trust Clerk and Company Secretary job summary
Connect School Academy Trust is seeking a Trust Clerk and Company Secretary to manage the governance function and clerk for its Board of Trustees, Board Committees, Local Governing Bodies and Head Teacher Working Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is highly organised with a thorough knowledge of academy trust governance and practice. Connect Schools Academy Trust is a growing Trust and as such we are looking for someone with the potential to grow and develop as the Trust grows.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in the area of schools and Trust governance as well as progressing complaints and supporting with effective resolutions. The successful candidate will need to work proactively and a pace, directing their own workload, developing strong professional relationships with Trustees, Head Teachers and other key staff across the Trust. They will provide professional support and governance advice, in line with our policies and regulatory framework.

The successful applicant will:
• act as Company Secretary for the Trust ensuring documents are filed to deadline with Companies House.
• have a sound understanding of Academy Trust Governance.
• be confident, approachable, highly organised and self-motivated.
• be able to work flexibly, including attending early (7.30am) and evening (until 9pm) meetings and travel to all our sites across Dartford, Tonbridge and Bromley.
• recruit new Board Members, Trustees and Local Governors and provide them with an induction and arrange their annual training programme.
• lead on admissions arrangement for CSAT schools
• Organise Stage 3 complaints panels and exclusion panels if required to do so.
• maintain the register of policies at Board and School level ensuring compliance with the Department of Education’s Governance Handbook.
• review and update the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation and Articles of Association, Register of Pecuniary Interests and Governor Hub.
• May have a qualification in Governance
The role is term time only (38 weeks), 30 hours per week, home working, hybrid working including compressed hours will be considered so long as required stakeholder meetings are covered, You will report to the CEO.

The annual salary is paid on London Borough of Bromley Localised Pay Scale of BR11 £35,041 – Actual £24,688 per annum.
