Trust Estates Manager job summary

Trust Estates Manager

Acer Trust, an Oxfordshire-based multi academy trust of 9 schools, is looking for an exceptional estates professional to join our Central Team and take a lead on the management and development of our school estate. This is a pivotal role in our vision to create great places to learn and work, through which you can make a tangible difference to the lives of thousands of children and young people. We are in the process of developing our next 5-year Estates Strategy, and the post-holder will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution at this exciting stage in our journey.

Over the past few years, we have invested considerably in improving our premises and health & safety practice through systems, policies and procedures. We are looking for someone motivated and strategic to take this work to the next level, building upon existing systems to further improve the efficiency of our teams and the quality, condition and safety of our school sites. You will also be responsible for galvanising and shaping strategies to improve the environmental sustainability of our estate.

Acer Trust is currently in receipt of School Condition Allocation grants totalling around £1.5m per annum, which is spent on carefully prioritised projects to improve our schools. We are also preparing for a number of significant local authority and grant funded projects; these works will have a huge impact on the quality of our schools, ensuring that current and future learners benefit from warm, safe and inspiring learning environments. You will be responsible for ensuring that the right solutions for each school are delivered in the most cost-effective way, whilst minimising disruption to our schools.

If you are looking to develop your existing skills and experience within a challenging and varied estates role, whilst making a difference to local communities in Oxfordshire, then this could be the role for you! You will gain demonstrable experience of delivering complex and strategically significant capital projects and benefit from our commitment to professional development through formal courses, sector events and local and networking forums. You will work as part of the Trust’s highly motivated Central Team and also work closely with our school operational and leadership teams and the Trust Executive Group.

This is a part-time post, based at one of our schools and involving regular travel to our sites across Oxfordshire, so a full, clean driving licence and access to a car are essential. You will benefit from flexible working opportunities, a generous holiday allowance, one of the country’s most competitive pension schemes and a salary range of £52,805-56,069k (pro rata) per annum, pending benchmarking and pay award.

To set up an informal discussion about the role with Jamie Wade, Chief Operations and Finance Officer, please contact office@acertrust.org.uk. For more details, please see attached Job description and person specifications.

The closing date for applications will be 9am on Monday 05 May 2025 and interviews will be held on Thursday 08 May 2025.
