Trust Governance Professional (Strategic Lead) job summary
Salary: Kent Scheme G (£34,421 - £38,304 pro rata)
Hours: c. 350 hours per annum (with additional hours by agreement)
Location: West Kent - Trust offices and schools (Coxheath, Loose and Snodland)
This role includes:
Advising the Trust Board, its committees, and Members on governance law and compliance.
Leading governance frameworks, recruitment, induction, training, and evaluation of trustees and governors.
Acting as Company Secretary, ensuring statutory compliance with Companies House, DFE, and charity law.
Clerking the Trust Board and its committees (Finance & Audit, Education & Curriculum).
Overseeing and quality-assuring clerks to Local Governing Bodies (LGBs).
This is a high-impact, strategic role at the heart of our governance system, ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
An experienced governance professional with excellent knowledge of academy trust governance.
Someone confident in advising senior leaders and trustees.
Strong organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Availability for in-person evening meetings, usually 5:00pm or 5:30pm, lasting about two hours.
