Lakeside's History
Lakeside Community Primary School, formed in September 2004 after the amalgamation of Southgate Infant & Nursery School and Wilmorton Community Primary School. In January 2019 we joined the Harmony Trust to become Lakeside Primary Academy.

Our Academy caters for children aged between 3-11 and we currently provide for around 675 learners and their families.

Our beautiful modern school has four phases, each phase has a leader and its own team of excellent staff who in turn are assisted by fantastic office staff and a kitchen and facilities management team who help us to avoid hunger, stay warm and have a clean place to learn!

Early Years Foundation Stage (3-5 years) Nursery and Reception
Key Stage 1 (5-7 years) – Year 1 & Year 2
Lower Key Stage 2 (7-9 years) – Year 3 & Year 4
Upper Key Stage 2 (9-11 years) – Year 5 & Year 6
The whole school is housed in a state of the art building completed July 2006 on the busy A6. We have a large playing field, extensive play space around the school, Sensory Room and Learning Zone, which houses our Computing Suite and Library. The building is an imaginative design built as part of a Private Funding Initiative (PFI) project with the facilities management being undertaken by Vinci Partnerships.

The Alvaston Children’s Centre is located on the London Road side of the school site. This facility is available to all families in the area, not just the families of children who come to the school and looks to provide a range of services for children between 0 and 7 and their families. Information leaflets are produced by the Children’s Centre advertising the activities and services they offer, we regularly send this out to all our families. For any other information please pop in to see them.
