What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and innovative Trust Leader of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to join Pontefract Academies Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic and forward-thinking individual to lead the development of MFL across two secondary schools and six primary schools.

This new Trust wide role is a unique opportunity for someone with a proven track record, to continue to build on the practice already established and to instil a culture of Trust wide collaboration and networking. We want the teaching and the curriculum offer in MFL to have a clear line of sight from primary school to secondary, so students develop not only confidence in the subject, but a love of learning a new language.

As Trust Leader of MFL, you will be expected to take MFL to a new level within our schools, and lead on both the operational and strategic direction of the subject. The successful individual will be expected to teach Spanish at both secondary schools, and look to potentially expand our MFL offer in time. The Trust is keen to explore the option of offering Mandarin as an additional language in the future.

In addition, you will lead a team of specialist MFL teachers across both secondary schools, and a primary specialist MFL teacher who will deliver Spanish lessons in all six primary schools. You will ensure that pedagogical practice is aligned across all schools and that the most innovative strategies available are used to inspire and engage our students across the Trust.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you:

  • Excellent CPD opportunities.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and talented students.
  • The opportunity to develop within a high performing multi-academy trust.
  • The opportunity to work with colleagues across both primary and secondary schools.
  • The chance to shape and future proof our MFL provision.
  • The chance to lead a range of MFL specialists across the Trust.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are an equal opportunities employer, welcoming applications from everyone. Pontefract Academies Trust is wholly committed to ensuring children and young people are fully supported and safe. We are dedicated to safeguarding all children and young people whilst promoting their welfare.
