LEO Academy Trust champions continuous professional development and delivers a programme of in house CPD including our Middle Leader and Aspiring Head programmes. We also work with a range of partners to offer accessible training for all staff including e-learning, a CPD app and face to face workshops.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced and child-centred SENDCo to join our successful and dedicated Inclusion Team at LEO Academy Trust. We are looking to appoint a full time SENDCo who will join our central team and support across all of our academies and when required to also work as a SENDCo in academies.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the Trust’s vision. They will work alongside the Director for Inclusion and the SENDCo’s in each academy to maintain and fully develop excellence in every aspect of the Academies’ operation. They will be committed to ensuring that every child and young person with SEND makes excellent progress, through access to high quality provision.

This person will be an excellent practitioner as a SENDCo within a school and support other SENDCo’s to provide the best possible opportunities for our children with high levels of need. We are looking for someone with experience of supporting the EHCP process, working with external agencies and a strong ability to communicate effectively.

You will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a minimum of an undergraduate degree

  • Have successfully undertaken the National Award SENCo Qualification (desirable but not essential)

  • Be able to demonstrate recent and outstanding understanding of the EHCP process

  • Be able to effectively articulate the needs of pupils both orally and in written form

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Have a strong ability to work as a team

  • Be technically competent and ba able to promote LEO through social media

As a member of our team, you will be actively involved in improving the outcomes for children across the Trust. You will benefit from working within an experienced team with close links to the Local Authority. You will have the opportunity to work in each academy and will represent the Trust at the new Local Authority SENDCo cluster groups throughout the year.
