This exciting new role has been created to support Venn academies in Hull and Doncaster to further improve reading and phonics outcomes for all our pupils.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting of early reading and phonics across our 11 settings, ensuring that our dedicated teachers and support staff have the knowledge and skills to deliver excellent learning opportunities.
This school improvement role provides opportunity for regular time in each academy to review and develop the curriculum and practice in reading and phonics teaching with school leaders.
The role of would suit an outstanding practitioner with a proven track record of improving outcomes in reading and phonics. You will work closely with all our school English curriculum leaders.
The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, be able to collaborate with colleagues, flexibility and enjoy working as part of a team.
You will build on existing good practice, strengthen partnerships, and ensure each primary setting has fidelity to its chosen phonics scheme.
You will support our specialist settings to implement clear strategies to implement their reading policy building on best practice and guidance, including the DFE reading framework.

The successful candidate will have
Qualified teacher status and degree
At least four years of successful teaching experience
Ability to plan and consistently deliver strong, inspiring lessons
Experience and evidence of successfully leading English, reading or phonics at a whole-school / key stage level
Experience of developing other staff to improve their teaching of reading/phonics
Sound knowledge of the EYFS curriculum framework and the National Curriculum
Understanding of what an outstanding reading curriculum looks like
Data analysis skills, and the ability to use data to inform provision planning
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to quickly build effective working relationships with a wide range of staff
Ability to influence and negotiate
Good IT skills
Commitment to getting the best outcomes for pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school
Commitment to equal opportunities and securing good outcomes for pupils with SEN or a disability
Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
Commitment to safeguarding and equality
