ACE is an inclusive and innovative KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students in Luton.
Following our highly successful OFSTED inspection this year the Avenue Centre is expanding its offer to support pupils vulnerable to exclusion. We are an inclusive and innovative KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students in Luton. We want to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic teacher to this role. Someone who has high expectations and believes that all children can, and deserve to, succeed.
The work at the Avenue Centre is aimed at providing a curriculum and learning environment that allows students to rebuild their education, successfully return to, and sustain, a place in mainstream schools or achieve a post 16 destination of choice. Significant emphasis is placed on working in partnership with families, partner schools, alternative provisions and external professionals, to develop an individual approach for every student which supports their success.
The Turnaround Programme is an early intervention programme for Key Stage 3 pupils who require a placement away from their current mainstream school to enable them to return sustainably and be successful in their local school.
ACE can offer the successful candidate the support from staff, parents and members (governors) who are enthusiastic, caring and committed to working as a team to achieve the best outcomes for our students at ACE. You will have the opportunity to develop new skills and stay motivated through guidance and support of the Senior Leadership Team, who have great plans for ACE and who really value committed members of staff. You will be enhancing your career by enrolling on the ACE’s numerous training opportunities and CPD schemes that effectively progress the knowledge and skill set of our staff team. This is a fantastic opportunity if you are motivated to work in a school giving ‘a second chance’ to some of the most vulnerable young people in society.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged.
Safeguarding Statement:
ACE is committed to safeguarding children and young people. Our interviews will always include relevant questions relating to child protection and/or safeguarding. A satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) with a Children’s Barred List Check is required as a condition of employment. In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), an online search will be conducted on shortlisted candidates to identify anything that may need further exploration with candidates. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
Equal Opportunities Statement:
At the Avenue Centre we believe that all individuals are of equal value and we are committed to equal opportunities for all. All people who work and study in the school have the right to be respected and valued within a safe and secure environment and not to be discriminated against on the grounds of age, class, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation and religion or belief. To help us meet our high standards and aspirations of a fully diverse and inclusive workplace, we strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this vacancy.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
