Tutor Opportunities for Graduates job summary

Calling all graduates of English and Maths
Are you passionate about your subject?
Would you thrive on the challenge of helping young people share your passion?
Are you considering a career in teaching?

We are looking to provide our pupils with access to high quality 1:1 and small group tuition. The extended school closure due to Covid-19 has meant some of our pupils have fallen behind where they need to be to reintegrate into the curriculum. We need to provide every opportunity for our pupils to catch up, rebuild their confidence and make progress across the curriculum with high quality English and Mathematics skills.

Being a successful Springboard Tutor
All pupils deserve access to a friendly, enthusiastic expert in their subject specialism. The ability to understand the barriers to progress in a subject, and devise innovative and creative ways to smash through these barriers is crucial. A Springboard Tutor will also understand that there may be complex reasons why a pupil struggles with functional literacy and numeracy skills, and that these skills may need to be nurtured and strengthened first to enable a pupil to confidently access a GCSE curriculum.

Our commitment to You
We will offer all Tutors a package of training, resources and support to enable you to prepare and deliver outstanding content to our pupils and excel in your post. You would be employed on a full or part-time basis with a weekly timetable, and would expect to work with pupils across the age range from 11-16. The Springboard Programme will be delivered at Swanmore College, and you will be employed as a fully integrated member of Swanmore staff. We will also offer mentor support to guide you through your professional development, if you are interested in a career in teaching from September 2021. Mentor support will be provided through our in-house Rural Schools Alliance (RSA) School Direct programme, and we will help you prepare to make a successful application for a Teacher training place either with the RSA or another provider.

Commitment to safeguarding

Swanmore College and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks along with other relevant employment checks.
