What skills and experience we're looking for
Pilgrim Pathways School is currently going through some exciting developments – including the planning and shaping the development of the education provision in the New Children’s Hospital at Addenbrooke’s and developing our outreach service. This is an exciting time for our dynamic and unique school, and for you to join us on our ongoing journey of delivering excellence in hospital and SEND education.
We seek an individual who:
• Is ambitious about the progress young people can make and is committed to providing high quality teaching to engage young people back into learning
• Can plan and deliver PSHE focussed group sessions
• Can provide direct educational interventions including contributing to EHCP/EHCNAs, safety plans, reintegration plans and Assess Plan Do Review cycles.
• Can deliver evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education settings.
• Can help children and young people transition back into educational settings through targeted interventions and a plan that scaffolds re-entry to school.
• Can support and facilitate staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate, manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
• Can carry out risk management for all children including the protective and risk factors present in the network of significant relationships.
• Respects the holistic nature of every young person’s education, and nurtures the talents of each individual
• Is committed to their own professional development and takes an interest in the developments in education
• Is imaginative, innovative and keen to create inspiring learning opportunities
• Has a passion for education and believes in the importance of reintegrating YP back into education and/or training.
• Has an excellent understanding of young people with mental health difficulties and special education needs and experience of supporting YP with these.
• Has an excellent understanding of mental health and associated behaviours and is able to develop and deliver training to staff.
• Has excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire young people
• Can identify and respond appropriately to child protection issues, as described in the schools’ safeguarding policy.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive electronic records, to ensure information is accurate and complies with Data Protection Act and school’s standards.
• To engage with using routine outcome measures as appropriate and inputting data into school records.

Pilgrim Pathways School is an OFSTED outstanding alternative provision, which encompasses 4 hospital schools. The Darwin Centre is an adolescent psychiatric unit for young people from the ages of 12 -18 years old with mental health difficulties. The Phoenix Centre is for young people from 12- 18 years old with eating disorders. The Croft Children and Families Centre is for children and their families with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and the education team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital Education and Outreach Service work with children with physical health conditions.
