What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a creative, passionate professional to join our friendly village school. We’d love to meet someone who will be an active member of our team as we continue to grow and develop together, striving to offer our children the best experience possible. We are looking to appoint the candidate who will bring the best to the school and the children in their class; therefore qualified teachers from ECTs up to UPS level are welcome to apply for this vacancy.

Our ideal candidates will:

  • Believe that all children can achieve success, across the curriculum;
  • Enjoy new challenges and working as part of a team;
  • Have high standards and expect nothing but the best from yourself and the children in your care;
  • Be flexible and adaptable;
  • Be a really strong team player, able to bring enthusiasm and creativity to the phase team, but able to work independently in a one-form structure.
  • Be confident, adaptive and reflective in using excellent assessment for learning to enable children to make great progress.

What the school offers its staff

Felbridge Primary School is a one-form entry primary school which sits just outside the town of East Grinstead. For a small school, we are lucky to enjoy fantastic, varied facilities including an area of woodland and lots of space to play, explore and learn. Not many schools can say their library sits within an original 1783 schoolhouse!

The successful candidate will benefit from a full induction and lots of support and development opportunities, as we work together to keep growing our school to give our children the best experience we can provide. ECTs will be supported throughout their induction period by an experienced mentor and through our local ‘appropriate body’ as part of the ECT framework. We have developed a close and supportive team of staff over the last few years and work together to provide peer-to-peer teaching support, leadership advice and cups of tea when needed! Additionally, it is a very exciting time to be joining the school as we start our journey as an academy with the highly-regarded Tandridge Learning Trust and our new headteacher, Emma Thorp.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.

Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.

Felbridge Primary School is a village school with a rich history and an exciting future. Founded in 1783 to provide an education for 12 children in a schoolhouse which is still used today, the school has grown steadily over the years and now provides modern accommodation and a purpose built learning environment. We are a one form entry primary school catering for the 4 -11 age range with a maximum of 210 children. For a small school, we enjoy varied, extensive outdoor spaces including two playgrounds, a large field, and our own area of woodland providing plenty of opportunity for outdoor learning.

Alongside the Headteacher, two part-time Co-Deputy Headteachers and the School Business Manager form the Senior Leadership Team. We have a mix of full and part-time teachers as well as excellent administrative and support staff who are fully involved in the life of the school.

Our teaching assistants also run a variety of special needs intervention programmes, led and supported by our SENCO.

We have a Governing Body who are committed and supportive. They are fully involved in decision making and are pro-active in the development of the school. Our parents are very supportive of their children. They have high expectations of the school and take a keen interest in their child's progress. We have an excellent turn out on parents evening and at social events, with an enthusiastic, active and supportive PTA. In our last Ofsted inspection (Autumn 2022) we were graded as securely good in all areas and the inspectors were excited for the future potential of the school.

Felbridge Primary has close relationships with our neighbouring Surrey schools and is also a member of the East Grinstead Group of Schools, known as EGGS. The group comprises all the local primaries that feed into the two secondary schools- Imberhorne and Sackville- who are also members of the group. Within Surrey, we are supported by the Schools Alliance for Excellence to provide regular training and networking opportunities for subject leaders and developing teachers.

At Felbridge, we work as a team, supporting and helping colleagues together to reach the high standards we are always aiming for. Our school motto, 'Finding the best in everyone,' applies as much to our staff team as it does to our children!
