Vice Principal - Curriculum, Staff Development and Standards job summary
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and talented leader to the post of Vice Principal. The role will be to take responsibility for and lead on the Curriculum, Staff Development and Standards across the College.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational professional to join a forward thinking, open minded and developmental leadership team. This opportunity arises following the promotion of the current Vice Principal to a regional role with a local Multi Academy Trust.
Your role will include, but is not limited to:
● Ensuring we provide an ambitious, well planned and effective curriculum
● Leading on teaching and learning to ensure positive student outcomes
● Coordination of the coaching of teaching staff to improve the quality of education across the school.
● Development of Curriculum Leaders to ensure high quality intent, implementation and impact across all areas
To be successful you will:
● Be an outstanding teacher with a track record of achieving excellent outcomes for your students
● Be able to lead with vision and think strategically
● Have a proven track record of improvement and impact
● Show an interest and passion for the art of teaching and learning, engage in the latest research and lead with a clear vision and strategic thinking
● Be a good role model, coach and have strong interpersonal skills

Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school. It comprises of two distinct and specialist sites. Our Thurston Campus, for students from Year 7 to Year 11 is situated four miles east of Bury St Edmunds. Thurston Sixth; Beyton Campus is located in the nearby village of Beyton, offering a bespoke centre of excellence for students in Year 12 and Year 13.
