What skills and experience we're looking for

The Royal School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Vice Principal - Safeguarding, Wellbeing and Personal Development to join our heavily oversubscribed day and boarding free school.

As part of our continued drive to improve the wellbeing, attainment and achievement of pupils across the school, the Vice Principal - Safeguarding, Wellbeing and Personal Development (VP-Safeguarding) will be the all-through school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) YR-Y13. They will ensure that the continual focus on the wellbeing of students remains uppermost in all elements of the educational experience at The Royal School for all pupils and staff.

The Vice Principal will lead the wider pastoral team including Heads of House, Designated Teacher, wellbeing coordinator and wellbeing support officers and school counsellor to ensure that effective systems and processes are in place to deliver outstanding pupil welfare, safeguarding and personal development. This will require the post holder to oversee safeguarding from ages 4-19, including the state boarding setting and support the team of DDSL's directly.

Liaison with external agencies and stakeholders such as MASH, Wolverhampton Safeguarding Together and various social care systems is essential to enable all pupils, whatever their starting point, to make progress towards their goals. The Royal School considers 'vulnerable children' a priority. We aim to provide a safe, secure and enriching environment in which all young people can make the best of their opportunities academically, emotionally, spiritually and physically to become successful leaders in the wider community.

They will implement and further develop the wellbeing strategy which supports our continued growth and development, having a significant impact on both pupil welfare, wider personal development, behaviour for learning.
