Visiting Music Teacher – Upper Strings job summary
Visiting Music Teacher – Upper Strings
For September 2022, we are seeking to appoint an upper strings teacher who would be interested in developing this aspect of our instrument provision within the school. Aside from individual lessons, we would like to develop co-curricular activities that would inspire music-making through ensembles and workshops, etc.
We currently have 3.5 hours of violin/viola teaching in the school and are taking applications from the new intake (four students currently). Our outgoing teacher also runs two string ensembles, both of which contribute to the school’s busy calendar of musical events.
Students are taught for 30 minutes per lesson individually or in pairs depending on skill level. On this basis, we would probably be able to offer a minimum of 5.5 hours’ teaching in the first instance with scope for expansion.
We have recently purchased enough string instruments to cater for a class of 30 students and would be interested to discuss how to best use this resource to encourage string playing within the school.
We also offer:
engaging, able and well-motivated students
an innovative approach to learning
outstanding music facilities
a friendly working environment
To apply for the post, please email a completed application form to Gill Byrne (HR Manager and Head’s PA). Email: employment@challoners.com
Closing date: Midday on Friday 24 June 2022.
Interview date: Early July.
