Blackpool Sixth is an outstanding college specialising in 16-19 education. We have an exciting opportunity for a Welfare Support Worker to join our Additional Learning Support team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the college-wide support team. You will play a key role in transforming lives and contributing to a culture of care and success by providing proactive welfare, emotional, and learning support to ensure that our students have high aspirations, are confident, and able to succeed

In this exciting role, you will provide support to a cohort of vulnerable students, ensuring successful transitions, sustained engagement in learning and positive outcomes. The role also includes the delivery of additional learning support to students with a range of needs, both in and out of the classroom. This is a permanent role and is full time, working 36.25 hours per week Monday-Friday. This role is a staff term time only post, so no working during the college holidays.

This is an ideal post for a person who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them achieve their full potential. We are also looking for someone who is committed to promoting student wellbeing and safety, with an understanding of safeguarding practices and the importance of equality and diversity.

In this role, no two days will be the same, but you can expect to:

  • Support vulnerable students during their college day, providing emotional or practical assistance to help them stay engaged in learning.

  • Collaborate with teachers, wellbeing mentors, and external agencies to address barriers to learning and put support plans in place.

  • Attend and contribute to key meetings, such as Personal Education Plan (PEP) reviews, case conferences, and transition meetings.

  • Provide in-class support to students with additional learning needs, helping them build skills, confidence and independence.
