What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a vibrant and dedicated colleague to join our welfare team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established and successful safeguarding team working across both our primary and secondary years. As part of your role, you will work closely with our children and young people on their wellbeing, ensuring that they have everything they need to be ready to learn. You should be compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated to improving the well-being of children and young people. We are also looking for someone who is able to run 1:1 sessions with our children; these sessions will be centred around the child’s well-being. As part of this role, you will be working predominantly with our community, building positive relationships and improving the wellbeing of the children throughout the academy. You will support with early help assessments for families and manage CPOMS throughout the academy day. Experience of running early help assessments and using CPOMS (or equivalent) would be desirable. You will be working closely with external agencies such as social care and will represent the school at various meetings with the various agencies.

The successful candidate will be a nurturing individual who understands the importance of our children being mentally healthy. You will be working closely with vulnerable children and children with SEMH needs. The role will require some behaviour support for children in class where they may not be ready to learn.

The successful candidate needs to be computer literate as there will be administrative duties within the role. Training will be provided in the use of academy information systems. We are looking for someone who may have experience within a setting where proactive support and intervention has been provided for families and young people. The successful applicant will be resilient to change, able to work under pressure and have the ability to make a positive impact on families in challenging circumstances.

What the school offers its staff

Since becoming an academy in September 2009, Kettering Buccleuch Academy has seen many exciting changes. We are an all-through academy catering for students aged 4-18. We moved into our new, purpose-built building in January 2013. The academy continues to go from strength to strength, with happy and motivated staff, a supportive culture and plenty of opportunities for personal growth with our excellent staff CPD offer. We offer a range of benefits including our wellbeing and workload manifesto, Perkbox, covering lifestyle and retail benefits including childcare vouchers, a car lease scheme, cycle to work etc., subsidised meals and an on-site gym which is free for all staff to use.

We welcome visits to our school so that you can experience the unique ethos of Kettering Buccleuch Academy for yourself.

We are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.

Here at United Learning, we are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued and appreciated. Because we are a group, we can reward you better than any school could alone, and this includes your employee benefits.

Commitment to safeguarding

Kettering Buccleuch Academy is committed to equal opportunities and to the protection and safety of all students and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share these commitments.

Each post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
