What skills and experience we're looking for

Ability to work positively with groups of children and young people with a wide range of needs.

Good inter-personal skills in informal and formal settings.

Ability to lead, manage and motivate others.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to relate well to children, parents and staff.

Highly developed organisation and administrative skills.

Be self-motivated and demonstrate ability to work on own initiative.

Enthusiasm, commitment and problem solving approach.

Intermediate level of IT skills appropriate for this role.

At least 2 years’ experience of working with children age 4-11 in a similar role.

Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, Early Years curriculum, provision for 4-11 year olds.

Experience of implementing Health and Safety procedures in childcare settings.

Experience of managing and leading a small team.

The role involves:

  • Managing administration for the provision ensuring bookings are accurate, registers are completed and pupil details are recorded;
  • Manage staffing in the provision ensuring that we comply with ratios;
  • Leading a variety of activities including arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games;
  • Being proactive and use initiative;
  • Able to differentiate activities ensuring full inclusion for all abilities and ages;
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with pupils, parents/carers and colleagues;
  • Administer First Aid as necessary and provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment for the pupils;
  • There are additional opportunities to plan and run holiday clubs in the future.
